Bullet For My Valentine promises a brutal return: "Leaving the past behind"

The band announced their seventh album with the single “Knives” last Friday, the 18th.

Bullet For My Valentine is back with unprecedented power. Three years after Gravity , the band released the track "Knives" last Friday, the 18th, the first single from their upcoming album. Backstage at the test edition of the Download , Matt Tuck explained the meaning of the new project.

“We wanted to come back with a song that we thought was kind of a sudden hit, actually. It speaks for itself,” the vocalist told Rock Sound in an interview (via Blabbermouth) . “I think a lot of people weren’t expecting it, that’s what we wanted. It’s a hit without warning. It’s heavy, it’s aggressive, it’s sick. It’s just like that, I love [the song]. The whole album is like that.”

The band's seventh album will be the self-titled Bullet For My Valentine , with a release date announced for October 22nd. The decision to use the band's own name is precisely due to the sound they've achieved. “We're kind of leaving the past behind – not in a negative way – and we wanted to start from scratch. And we thought now was the time. Everyone feels good. Everyone is in a really good place,” he continued. “We feel this album proves a point. People listen to 'Knives' and think 'Wow, damn'. Wait until you hear the rest of the album.”
