The partnership is part of the American's new project.
Legendary Buddy Guy announced a few weeks ago that he was accompanied by a great team of musicians to record his new studio album. Now, he has released the song in which Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards gives a beautiful performance.
Titled “Cognac”, the track is part of the album The Blues Is Alive and Well , scheduled for release on June 15th, and features Guy and Richards alongside British musician Jeff Beck .
At almost five and a half minutes long, “Cognac” features Guy singing about women, the past, and a colleague who used to drink with him. “If the late Muddy Waters were here drinking with us / That bottle would have been gone a long time ago,” he sings, “Muddy can’t drink with me anymore, but I’ve got Keith Richards here,” Guy says, introducing a solo by the guitarist.
"How about we call Beck? Come here now," he sings, and then it's Jeff Beck's turn for the solo.
The duo isn't the only one to participate in the new work. Richards' bandmate, Mick Jagger , appears on the track "You Did the Crime," and singer James Bay on "Blue No More."
