Political and brutal, Drowned releases album 'Recipe of Hate'; listen now

Brazilian thrash and death metal band returns with intense work about Brazil and the world.

Drowned Recipe of Hate this Friday, the 25th, their first since 2018, through Cogumelo Records . The album features a brutal and intense sound, delivering pointed political critiques relevant to the current situation in Brazil and the world.

Marking a return to their roots, the Minas Gerais-based death and thrash metal band has reunited the lineup from their first album, discussing the practices of politicians and religious figures, as well as influencers and conspiracy theorists, all fundamental pieces in the country's current fragility.

“Human beings are essentially political, even if they don't know it. Politics only makes sense if it seeks the well-being of the community; otherwise, it's just a business like any other, aimed at the gain of a few at the expense of the majority,” commented vocalist Fernando Lima in an interview with Wikimetal . “Today's argument against talking about politics in music is very simple: a rock band, if it's authentic, if it's going to talk about any political theme, has a moral obligation to criticize what's happening in Brazil and the world.”

Nothing is left unsaid on the album: from Jair Bolsonaro in "Hail, Captain Genocide" to the absurdities of denialism during the COVID-19 pandemic in "Doctor Horror Medical Group ," the title track "Recipe of Hate (The Holy Bible)" points the finger at the use of the Holy Bible as a veritable recipe for distilling hatred. The track has an intense and powerful music video, watch it below.
