Recently, Bruno Sutter was one of the guests on The Wikimetal Happy Hour Detonator 's latest album , Arraiá do Metal – a project with a June festival theme that presents classic songs from the São João festival in a heavy metal style.
During the conversation with Nando Machado , Sutter became emotional when talking about his participation in the debut album of his longtime colleague Val Santos , 1986. Bruno was invited to lend his voice to the track "Miracle," which, according to him, had been written for Viper and was supposed to feature vocals by Andre Matos .
“When he [Val] told me that, I got super emotional because Andre is my biggest idol,” says Sutter. “I had the opportunity to meet Andre, to spend time with him, obviously in the way he allowed because he was a very private guy, but the little time we spent together was really great. I was very grateful and very emotional and wanted to do my best. I put my soul into that song and it turned out really great.”
Bruno Sutter also recalled the occasion when he interviewed Andre Matos in his role as Detonator and celebrated the legendary singer's good humor. "Andre was one of the first guys to defend Massacration ," he stated. "He was one of the first guys to say, 'We have to learn to laugh at ourselves.'"
Sutter also mentions that Andre, in a way, "took him under his wing" after learning that the creator of Detonator had experience in classical music and that he was one of his greatest inspirations, since they both sang as tenors. "We shared the stage a few times, including on Shaman . I had the honor of singing 'Pride' with him at the show," he recalls.
“I was a real son of a bitch too,” he jokes. “I invited him to my show at Kiss and while I was interviewing him, I asked, ‘Andre, is Tobias going to sing?’ and he replied, ‘No, not this time.’” Bruno then responded: “'So I wanted to take advantage of our audience, we’re live… I wanted to see if I could sing with you?’ and then he said, ‘Sure.’ That was the most shameless guest appearance of my life.”
