The trend of selling artist catalogs continues full steam ahead in the music industry. This time it was the legendary Bruce Springsteen who negotiated the sale of his portfolio to Sony Music Entertainment.

The sale was worth around US$500 million (approximately R$2.8 billion at the current exchange rate). The deal became the largest sale of a music catalog in history to date.

“I’m an artist who can truly say that when I signed with Columbia Records in 1972, I went to the right place. For the past 50 years, the men and women at Sony Music have treated me with the utmost respect as an artist and as a person. I’m thrilled that my legacy will continue to be cared for by the company and by people I know and trust,” Bruce Springsteen said in a statement from Sony (via The New York Times ).

Bruce Springsteen's most recent studio album, Letter To You , was released in October 2020 and can be heard below.
