The film will feature interviews with the musician about his life and career
Bruce Springsteen revealed the trailer for the accompanying film Western Stars
The film will feature live performances of all the songs from the album, as well as interviews in which the musician reflects on his life and career. Western Stars , co-directed by Springsteen himself in partnership with Thom Zimmy , premieres in September at the Toronto Film Festival. In North American cinemas, the film is scheduled for release in October.
“It’s very easy to get lost or never even find yourself. The older you get, the heavier the baggage of unresolved issues becomes. So, you run. I’ve run a lot. I spent 35 years trying to forget the destructive parts of my personality, and I still have days when I struggle,” the musician narrates in the film trailer.
Western Stars was Springsteen's first album released without a tour since 1982's Nebraska. "I was looking for a way to present some songs live to the audience. Then we discovered that film was the best way to achieve that."
