Listen to the full interview with Bruce Dickinson

In an audio interview for the Canadian program "Do You Know Jack?", Bruce Dickinson spoke about his predecessor in Iron Maiden, former vocalist Blaze Bayley:

“I really like Blaze. I like him as a human being. He’s a really cool guy. I remember going to the management office and there was a guy, who doesn’t work there anymore, telling me how cool all this was going to be and how everything was going to work out with the new vocalist.”.

“And I said to him, 'Of course he's going to accept the job. But has anyone thought about how he's going to deal with the old material? Has anyone thought about how he's going to cope with that? Not just the singing part, but how are you going to handle the fans' reaction?'”.

Bruce continues:
“Because I was surprised it was going to be Blaze. I was happy for Blaze, but there were a lot of great vocalists out there. And I thought, 'Wow, they could have chosen someone with a voice that could do what my voice did,' but they chose Blaze. Obviously, they wanted to choose someone different, and that choice came with its challenges .

"I just keep wondering if someone in management was really telling the truth about how difficult this was going to be.".
