He spoke about the difficulty new bands face in achieving success

Bruce Dickinson, frontman of Iron Maiden, spoke during an interview with Comebackstage about the current model of consuming music and, especially, about Napster.

"With Napster and all that, downloading became mainstream, Napster destroyed the concept of music having value ," he confesses.

He goes on to say that the service's founder should be arrested, as his creation was an act of selfishness and destruction. "The public isn't to blame – they can listen to quality music for free. Why wouldn't they? They don't realize that what they're doing is destroying an entire culture."

Dickinson reveals that although Iron Maiden continues to sell records, releasing them is no longer as lucrative as before, "We still make albums because we need to, because we love doing it and we need to make new music ," he reveals.

In the vocalist's opinion, the new bands emerging today don't have that luxury, which hinders their success. "People who are brilliant musicians aren't getting paid for their work ," he says indignantly.
