Iron Maiden vocalist Deep Purple 's influence on his career: "It was the music I grew up with. It was what got me out of bed in the morning in terms of music."

Regarding vocalist Ian Gillan, Dickinson said: “Ian was a vocal hero of mine. There was Gillan, Arthur Brown, Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull and, surprisingly, a guy called Peter Hammill from Van Der Graaf Generator. They're all from the same vocal range.
