"I have the utmost respect for Blaze."

Bruce Dickinson, frontman of Iron Maiden, participated in the Rock Talk With Mitch Lafon where he talked about singing tracks that were recorded during the time when Blaze Bayley was the band's vocalist.

“You know, life is too short to put your ego before things. It’s childish, it’s stupid. And actually, a lot of those songs work really well in my voice. Some don’t, but you know what? They’re songs that Iron Maiden fans bought.”

He goes on to say that songs like "The Clansman" and "Sign Of The Cross" sound great live, and even with the difference in styles and vocal tones, they manage to perform them well.

“I have the utmost respect for Blaze, as he joined the band at a very difficult time (…) He’s a great person ,” he reveals.

Recently, Bruce also spoke about the subject on the radio show Do You Know Jack?. The musician revealed that although he likes Blaze, he believes that Iron Maiden could have tested many other vocalists before inviting him to the group.
