Bruce Dickinson reveals that one of his favorite places to visit is cemeteries, and despite the themes of the musician's works and the sharing of a video of a bat visiting the film set, he clarifies the story.
In an interview with the German YouTube channel EMP , the singer explained the creative process behind a song or piece of work and its connection to cemeteries.
According to him, "ideas don't always give advance notice, inspiration simply appears, and most ordinary people end up frustrated by this, because they still need to continue performing their daily tasks, they can't stop at the exact moment they need to, for example, you need to sit at the dinner table at the exact moment you would like to write the last chapter of your book."
Bruce also says that he doesn't have an exact time to be creative, according to him: "It happens to me when I'm driving, which is very inconvenient, because you want to stop and write something immediately, and often you can't, of course."
Iron Maiden vocalist recounts that his inspiration also comes "when you're sitting on trains, believe it or not, but then someone starts making noise and distracting you, which is very inconvenient because it affects my reasoning."
Dickinson finally confesses that the ideal is to be alone when one needs to think and organize thoughts, and the best place for this, "is cemeteries, because they offer the solitude necessary for ideas to manifest themselves."
“Sometimes I go out and just take a walk among the cemetery gardens,” the singer confessed. “In the end, they end up inspiring me.”
At the end of the conversation, the musician was asked how he usually has fun without thinking about work: "Although it's somewhat difficult, I usually relax with my wife, with some good cheese and a glass of red wine."
