Bruce Dickinson will record a new solo album in 2022: "We already have plenty of material."

Iron Maiden vocalist reunites with Roy Z for successor to 'Tyranny of Souls'

Bruce Dickinson has a packed schedule for 2022, from Iron Maiden 's tour to recitation shows across Europe . In a new interview with Loudwire , the vocalist also confirmed that he will be working on a new solo album this year.

Dickinson will take a three-week break after the recitation tour in March of this year, and will use that time to compose alongside Roy Z , guitarist, producer and musical partner in the singer's solo career. The pair worked together on Dickinson's last solo album, Tyranny of Souls (2005).

“We already have a lot of material, with demos and everything, but we need to organize it more properly and take it more seriously. [We have to] write some more songs and, basically, I'll leave it to Roy. He can go out and start doing backing tracks and things like that,” Dickinson explained.

According to the singer, touring with Maiden throughout the year won't be a problem during the recording of his seventh solo album. “ Tyranny of Souls was made somewhat remotely – I wasn't physically present when some of the backing tracks were done, but I listened to the material and, in some cases, wrote the lyrics over it. Mixing and matching in this way brings great results from time to time,” he concluded.
