Iron Maiden will release a new album this year.
Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson has been declared completely cancer-free following a new MRI scan this week. After the results, Dickinson released a public statement to fans. On the band's official Facebook page, Bruce says:
“I would like to thank the fantastic team of doctors who have treated me over the last few months, resulting in this incredible diagnosis. It has been very hard on my family and in many ways it ended up being worse for them than for me. I would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to all our fans for their thoughts and words. I believe in a positive attitude, and the encouragement from the global Maiden family has meant so much to me. Now, I am feeling extremely motivated and can’t wait to get back to action as always, as soon as I can!”
Iron Maiden's manager, Rod Smallwood, also released a statement explaining that although they will not be touring until next year, the band will focus on recording their next album.
“We are, obviously, completely delighted to announce that Bruce is cancer-free. While Bruce is naturally eager to continue activities with Maiden, it will take some time before he returns to his normal form, as we explained previously . Because of this, the band will not be planning any tours or shows until next year. I know the fans will understand the situation and, like us, would prefer Bruce to be back in his tireless form before returning to the road.”
“For now, the focus will be on finishing the new Iron Maiden album, and that’s what we’ll be doing for the next few weeks. The release will definitely be later this year. In the meantime, I echo Bruce’s words and thank all the Iron Maiden fans. You have been incredibly patient, putting Bruce’s health first during this difficult time.”
