"I was mentally exhausted."
Bruce Dickinson, frontman of Iron Maiden, revealed that he considered leaving the band after the release of the album Powerslave in 1984.
The band embarked on an intense world tour to promote the album, the World Slavery Tour , which eventually became Live After Death , a classic live album from 1985.
After the tour ended, Dickinson considered leaving the music industry due to the exhaustion it caused.
In an interview with Loudwire, the frontman reveals: “I did think about it. I was mentally exhausted from it all. After 13 months on the road without a stable social life, it's difficult.”
People would say, 'Stop complaining! You're a rock star and you're making a lot of money.' Yes, I was a rock star, but if I wanted to stop, it was my choice, you know?
I seriously considered becoming a full-time fencing coach
Dickinson says that when they returned from the tour, they had six months off, and then he realized he could handle it. "I started to see purpose in it ," he confesses.
The frontman left the band in 1993 but returned in 1999, and a year later the band released Brave New World .
