In early August, Bruce Dickinson revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, but that he did not experience severe symptoms because he was vaccinated. In a new interview , the Iron Maiden said he is "perfectly fine" and joked about the denialist arguments.
"None of us grew an extra head, felt the urge to slide down a telephone pole, or expressed a desire to suck Bill Gates' , so I think all those things are a big myth," he quipped.
The musician also stated that he finds it "incredible" that some people are still reluctant to get vaccinated and wear masks. "Clearly [masks] help, and if they help, why not [wear them]? What's so crazy about that? I don't understand, it's not a big deal. There are many other strange things that could upset you and that are probably really serious," he said.
In conclusion, Bruce Dickinson expressed his opinion regarding the denialist behavior of people who don't believe in vaccines, the use of masks, or the existence of the pandemic itself. “There’s no arguing with people like that because their facts are based on different facts than the rest of us. I don’t think it has anything to do with politics. I don’t think people believe in things like that because of politics. They believe because of a psychological advantage. They have a need to believe in those things,” said the musician.
“That’s how some people think. That’s their mentality. And you probably won’t change that, but to the rest of us I would just say: go get vaccinated. And if you get sick it won’t be a big deal, it’ll just be a mild case of the flu.”
