In a recent interview with The Telegraph , Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson commented on the band's exclusion from the list of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023 .

“We don’t care at all, because the people who understand us aren’t the people running the music business, whatever that is. That business is run by people who couldn’t make a living doing anything else. I don’t want to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Because we’re not dead yet! Some people feel almost threatened by metal. Not by the nature of the sound. But by the fact that metal doesn’t fit their worldview, their idea of what pop music should be. And you know what pop music is? Disposable, my dears. And well: We don’t make disposable music.”

This is the second time Iron Maiden has been nominated for the Hall of Fame. In 2021, the English band was also nominated.

Hall of Fame CEO Greg Harris commented on the choice: “We love that people care whether they [Iron Maiden] are in or out of the Hall, and yes, the fans do care. The truth is that anyone who is nominated has a good chance of eventually getting in. In fact, the chances are over 90% that they will get in soon. Rage Against The Machine were nominated about 6 times before getting in. So sometimes it’s just a matter of time.”
