Lead singer speaks during show in Shanghai
Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson spoke about the modifications the band had to make to the show at the behest of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. These included a ban on profanity and pyrotechnics ( see the full list of restrictions ).
Bruce made his speech joking about the fact that he couldn't swear. Check out his statement:
“It’s incredible to be here tonight. It’s incredible to be in China today, I tell you. We killed it in Beijing and we thought, ‘Wow, this is serious,’ you know. They had some rules and we followed the rules and didn’t swear. You know? There’s something else we can’t do. See if you can guess later. But actually, we’re not really (Bruce just moves his lips and doesn’t pronounce the word ‘fucking’) concerned about all that, you know why? The most important thing is the music, it’s the most important thing and it’s the reason we’re here, the reason you’re here, and we’re going to have a (moves his lips for the word ‘fucking’) night. (…) I was watching a Chinese TV channel… They did an interview with Janick and showed some pictures of our show with fire and dry ice, and I thought it’s a shame we can’t do that because we were a little restricted. But next time we’ll talk about it. The next time we come.”.
