Earlier this week, during an interview with the blog Song Facts about his new solo project, The Mandrake Project , Bruce Dickinson was asked which song, from his vast repertoire, is the most challenging to perform live. He chose the opening track from the classic Powerslave album , "Aces High".

According to the vocalist, the difficulty in singing this particular song has been with him since it was composed. “It’s not just because I’m in my sixties. Believe me, when I was 26, it was equally challenging. I always said: If we’re going to play ‘Aces High,’ can we put it at the front of the set, please?” he explains.

For Bruce, something that could help would be performing the song with a change in key. However, this doesn't seem to be a viable option: “We still play all the songs in the original key. I'm sure it would be easier if we lowered the key, but then it wouldn't sound as good. This is the most challenging Maiden song to sing,” says the vocalist.

Iron Maiden fans , because although this track has been used several times as the opening act for the British band on many of their tours, recently the song was repositioned as a second encore, including on the Legacy of the Beast .
