Scott Walker , singer and songwriter, died this Monday, the 25th, at the age of 76, according to his record label, 4AD . The cause of death was not disclosed.

The British musician is survived by a daughter, a granddaughter, and his life partner, Beverly. Alongside the Walker Brothers , he achieved great success during the 1970s and 1980s. Afterwards, he pursued a solo career.

“For half a century, the genius of Noel Scott Engel enriched the lives of hundreds,” the record label statement said, “Scott Walker was a challenging and unique figure in British music: audacious and questioning, he produced works that dared to explore human vulnerability and the dark loneliness that surrounds it.”.

Scott began his career as a major experimental pop icon and soon transitioned to pop rock, becoming an inspiration to big names in music such as David Bowie and Thom Yorke .
