Brit Turner, drummer for Blackberry Smoke, dies of cancer at age 57. 

The musician was facing a difficult diagnosis of a brain tumor.

Brit Turner , drummer for Blackberry Smoke , died at age 57 this Sunday, the 3rd. The musician was diagnosed with glioblastoma in November 2022, an aggressive brain tumor.

The sad news was shared on the band's Instagram : “It is with profound sadness that we inform everyone that our brother Brit Turner has left this life. If you had the privilege of knowing Brit on any level, you know that he was the most caring, empathetic, driven and captivating person anyone could ever meet.”

The illness was discovered a few months after the drummer fell ill and was treated at one of the band's shows due to a heart attack. What they thought might have been just the after-effects of the incident was actually an unexpected diagnosis of brain cancer, given after a series of tests.

February was quite a month for the drummer. He had just turned 57 and also witnessed the release of Blackberry Smoke's latest studio album, which came out on February 16th. 

The drummer lived in Atlanta with his wife, daughter, and pets. Brit participated in several live performances with the band during his treatment. The musician was also involved in the creation process of Be Right Here .
