Bring Me The Horizon may go on hiatus, according to Oli Sykes , the band's vocalist.
In an interview with NME , he expressed his desire to take some time off after the exhausting process of creating Post Human: NeX GEn : "We need time to recharge our batteries and have that time off, because we haven't had it."
Sykes emphasizes that, even during the pandemic, the band didn't stop working: "The last time we stopped was when we were forced to during quarantine. Even then, we were still doing things."
Concerned that the lack of a break might affect the band and his creativity, Oli states that "It's not just about the music," and that if he doesn't step away to "see the whole picture," it could affect both the creative process and the music.
The future of Bring Me The Horizon
Oli says it's important to "let Bring Me The Horizon go for a moment," as he wants the next album to be "a completely new era, aesthetically and sonically, in every respect."
Even though the band doesn't have anything ready yet, Sykes says there's still "a bit of NeX GEn to tell through music," but admits he's "out of ideas" so he can't promise anything, "if it doesn't happen, then it doesn't happen." On the other hand, he says there are songs that fans would like to hear, "it's on the list."
Currently, BMTH has no concrete plans for an official hiatus. Next year the band will play at a series of festivals such as Rock Am Ring, Rock Im Park and Reading and Leeds.
When asked if 2026 will be the year the band slows down, Sykes replies: “I don’t know. We haven’t seen that yet. It could be even further down the line. It’s hard to say at this point.”
