Bring Me The Horizon performed on Saturday afternoon and got the Lollapalooza crowd going wild.
Saturday at Lollapalooza wasn't the most peaceful. Due to rain, the festival interrupted the shows and made the audience wait for two hours. Returning to the Onix Stage, Bring Me The Horizon transformed the festival into a gigantic headbanging frenzy.
Oli Sykes and his crew delivered a show very similar to what they did at the Lolla Party on Wednesday. But here, the setlist was more adapted for a large festival. The already impressive screens, which display artwork for each song with very well-produced videos, were complemented by fire, smoke, and a shower of confetti.
The vocalist once again showed off his Portuguese, with a strong British accent. Constantly interacting with the audience, it's clear how easily Sykes commands everyone present. "Mantra" once again opened the show with its palatable metal. Meanwhile, "House Of Wolves" alienated those less interested in heavy metal and drew in many curious onlookers eager to hear the screaming.
With fewer songs from the band's heavier phase ("Antivist," for example, was not part of the setlist), Bring captivated the audience with the ballads "Medicine" and "Mother Tongue." The acoustic version of "Drown," which was performed in its original version and had everyone on their feet, was omitted.
During the show, Oli asked, in Portuguese, "not one, not two, but three mosh pits," and the audience happily complied. The Briton's singing voice today is in no way inferior to the perfect, raspy screams he always knew how to deliver.
“Nihilist Blues,” a depressive electronic track, perfectly matched the festival's vibe with its beats and drops. This was one of the highlights, with everyone dancing non-stop. “Throne” closed a well-rounded show that demonstrates Bring Me could be a major headliner at a future Lollapalooza.
