The collaboration took place on the track “Obey,” released in September , which was part of BMTH’s EP Post Human: Survival Horror . Annie said, when announcing the winner: “Two artists who are at totally different stages in their careers collaborated for the first time, great respect for them by the way, and both going beyond what they already do.”
Oli [ Sykes ’s experience and vision makes this track a perfect collaboration. It’s a great moment for rock right now and I’m very happy that a song like this won the song of the year award,” she added.
Speaking about the award, vocalist Oli Sykes said: “It must have been a long time since a rock song achieved what this one achieved and that’s really cool. It’s a wonderful way to end the year and I appreciate all your support.” He also explained that the song is about “the anger and frustration we’ve been feeling this year.”.
