Brian Wilson , lead singer and founder of the Beach Boys , died on Wednesday, June 11th, at the age of 82. The musician had struggled with mental health issues for over 50 years. The information was released on the artist's social media accounts.

"It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Brian Wilson. We are speechless at this time. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family grieves. We know we are sharing our pain with the world.".

According to his representatives, in 2024 Brian Wilson was placed under legal guardianship by a judge after being diagnosed with a "severe neurocognitive disorder," similar to dementia. Previously, the singer had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Formed in 1961 in California by Brian, his brothers Dennis and Carl, cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine, the Beach Boys combined Brian's innovative vocals with rock 'n' roll and blues. The band also used unconventional recording techniques to create a unique sound.
