Brian May supports the idea of a Freddie Mercury hologram at Queen concerts.

The guitarist commented on the possibility of holding virtual concerts in the future

In recent years, hologram performances have become commonplace in music, and Queen may be one of the next bands to adopt this model.

In an interview with Big Issue , guitarist Brian May commented on the possibility of a reunion of the classic lineup. For this to happen, the band would perform a show with a hologram of Freddie Mercury , who passed away in 1993. Bassist John Deacon has been away from the band since 1997, but still holds internal influence .

“Freddie is still alive through the music we hear all the time. In a way, John is still with us in the same way, but now we have so many more opportunities. I mean, immersive experiences, like The Sphere in Las Vegas, will allow people to experience very closely what it was like for us when we were Freddie, John, Brian and Roger. That really appeals to me,” said May [transcription via NME ].

Brian also said that the show excites him because it gives him the idea of "being able to be the original Queen again."

“It’s something quite simple, but it’s a way to involve Freddie, and I think we can take it much further. It wouldn’t just be reproducing old images or something like that. It would be creating Queen as if we were creating it today.”

Roger Taylor also commented on the possibility of a virtual Queen concert

Present at the interview, drummer Roger Taylor has a more skeptical opinion. The artist revealed that he watched the ABBA Voyage and noticed areas for improvement.

"I didn't find the projections very convincing. I believe that technology has evolved a lot since the beginning of the ABBA show, and I think many more changes can still happen," he stated.

The show takes place in a purpose-built arena in London and uses digital avatars – the “ABBAtars” – with their 1979 appearances, created from motion capture of the four original members: Agnetha Fältskog , Björn Ulvaeus , Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad .
