Brian May launched a stereoscopy competition and invited fans to participate

A fan of stereoscopy since 1959 and with his own publications, Brian May asks fans to recreate scenes from the band's history

Queen guitarist Brian May has launched a competition and invited fans to participate. The goal is to recreate a three-dimensional version of a scene from Queen's long and illustrious history.

May is a big fan of stereoscopy: the process by which a pair of two-dimensional images are combined to give the perception of three-dimensional depth. He encountered the practice in 1959 and has been a devotee of the technique ever since.

Brian May published Queen In 3-D , which is part memoir, part photographic diary. In addition, he also published a book with 3-D photos of the moon and another focused on Victorian fashion. In 2017, he also released two augmented reality apps for Halloween.

Now, he's asking fans to recreate a scene from Queen's history and transform it into a stereoscopic image using a smartphone app. The "3D Photo" app for iOS or "3DSteroid" for Android are the recommended options.

May himself will judge the results. The winner will receive a Queen 3-D package containing a copy of the deluxe edition of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 3-D, which comes with a plaque adorned with ex-libris and a pack of "Radio Ga Ga" stereo cards .

There are no restrictions on choice. Participants have complete freedom to do as they prefer.

For details on how to enter, please visit the London Stereoscopic Company's Facebook page. The closing date is June 25th at noon UK time. The winner will be announced at 6pm on June 28th via the company's social media channels.
