Queen guitarist Brian May posted a statement regarding the use of "We Are The Champions" by Republican candidate Donald Trump in the US election. According to May, the band did not give permission for the song to be used.

“I have received an avalanche of complaints regarding Donald Trump’s use of the song “We Are The Champions” on USA TV. This is not an official statement from Queen, but I can confirm that permission for use was neither requested nor granted. We are seeking advice on how to ensure that the song is not used again. Regardless of our opinion on Trump’s platform, it has always been against our policy to allow Queen’s music to be used as a campaign tool. Our music embodies our own dreams and beliefs, but it is for everyone who cares to listen to and enjoy.”.

This is the third conflict Trump has had with rock musicians, after using Aerosmith 's "Dream On" without permission and having permission for Twisted Sister's " We're Not Gonna Take It" revoked.
