This Tuesday, the 22nd, Brian May , famous guitarist and founding member of Queen , announced that he will be re-releasing his debut solo album, Back to the Light , as part of his new Brian May Gold Series .

The new edition of the 1992 album has been remastered by Bob Ludwig and will be released on CD, vinyl, picture disc, digital download, and streaming services on August 6th. Some bonus tracks will also be released on a second disc, called Out of the Light .

In a statement, Brian May said he found it “fascinating” to revisit his first solo album and rediscover why he wrote certain things. “But I loved going back to it,” the guitarist said. “I’m just really hoping that [the album] connects with people who have never heard it before. They know me as the guitarist from Queen. Some know me as an astronomer. Some know me as an animal rights activist. But very few people have heard my solo work.”

The reissue of Back to the Light is now available for pre-order.
