Brian May , during an interview with Sammy Hagar on his AXS TV show, recalled Freddie Mercury shortly before his death on November 24, 1991.
“In his final days, Freddie would say, ‘So folks, I’m not going to be around much longer, so just give me things to sing, and I’ll sing. Write things on the back of a cigarette pack, whatever. Just give me things to sing.’ So we did a lot of that,” May described.
Queen 's guitarist also said that Mercury was not very dramatic about his health condition, saying he never saw the vocalist cry or feel sorry for himself, but that he was always focused on continuing to collaborate with the band.
Much of this material was used on the 1995 album Made in Heaven , which is the band's last album to feature Freddie Mercury on vocals, although he had left behind several recordings of both vocals and piano.
Twenty years after Freddie's death, Queen shares the stage with vocalist Adam Lambert , and they continue together to this day. Before him, the band toured with Paul Rodgers , vocalist of the bands Bad Company and Free .
