The news that the Queen would receive the honor was released on December 31, 2022, along with the full list of honorees. The musician receives the title for his contribution to the world of music and charitable organizations.
On Instagram, the legendary guitarist shared a picture of the moment he received the tribute, writing: “Speechless! Bri.” May vowed to “do the things a knight is expected to do,” including “fighting for justice” and for “people who have no voice.”
Speaking to Sky News (via RadioX ), he said he was “very happy” that his royal journey would “end with a sword on my shoulder.” He described the knighthood as a “kind of challenge,” adding, “I think that’s how I see it, to do good in the world and to do better than before.”
