Brian May says he still hasn't received the money related to Bohemian Rhapsody.

Brian May: "We haven't earned a penny from Bohemian Rhapsody yet."

Guitarist Brian May said the film was a labor of love.

Queen 's award-winning biopic , Bohemian Rhapsody , has grossed $903,175,016 at the worldwide box office. However, guitarist Brian May said the band hasn't received a penny from the film yet.

May said he didn't imagine the film would do so well commercially. "It was a long labor of love – about 12 years in development, I think. We knew it would do well [at the box office], but we didn't imagine it would do this well. It was incredible around the world," he said.

“I had to laugh the other day when I read an article saying we got rich from the movie. If they only knew. We were with an accountant recently and we still haven’t earned a penny from the film. How successful does a movie need to be before it starts making money?”

However, he said he feels proud of the result. “The feeling is great. I think Freddie [Mercury] had his dignity maintained, without being misrepresented. It's very real… I think people were impressed with Rami Malek . The way he got into Freddie's skin is phenomenal.”
