Even 30 years after his death, it is undeniable that Freddie Mercury is missed not only by his fans, but also by his friends and bandmates.
During the Rhapsody Tour , with singer Adam Lambert on vocals, Queen has been performing a special show every night – a duet between guitarist Brian May and a digital image of Freddie Mercury, visible only on the big screen.
In a video captured by a fan and posted on TikTok , it's possible to see that during a recent show at the O2 Arena in London, Brian May couldn't contain his emotion and had to wipe away a discreet tear at the end of his performance.
In this part of the show, May plays guitar while a digital projection of Mercury sings the beautiful classic "Love of My Life." It's enough to move anyone, especially when you notice that, despite Freddie's digital interaction with his friend on the screen, the stage is empty and Brian May is playing alone. It's as if the singer's absence is even more present, and it's no wonder that the guitarist was overcome with emotion.
Previously, Brian had already commented on his friend's death with a tragic touch of fatalism, stating that if Freddie had contracted AIDS "a few months later," he probably would have survived the effects of the disease thanks to the cocktail of medications that allowed for an evolution in treatment.
