Brian May called celebrities who oppose vaccines, such as Eric Clapton , Ian Brown , and Richard Ashcroft, "crazy," and criticized UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his handling of the pandemic.
“I think it would be impossible for anyone to make worse decisions than Boris,” the Queen guitarist said in an interview with The Independent . “At every turn he did something wrong. Hundreds, if not thousands, of our relatives died because of Boris’s bad advice and decisions.”
May continued: “The fact that he is willing to trade lives for economic gain so openly, I find horrifying… it’s completely unacceptable.”
The guitarist also commented on fellow artists who are publicly opposing the vaccine, such as Eric Clapton, Ian Brown, and Richard Ashcroft.
“I love Eric Clapton, he’s my hero, but he has different views than I do,” he said. “He’s one of those people who thinks it’s okay to hunt for sport, so we have a lot of things we disagree on, but I will never stop respecting him.”
“Anti-vaccine people, sorry, but I think they’re crazy,” he said. “There’s plenty of evidence proving the vaccine’s effectiveness. There will always be some side effect from any drug you take, but to go around saying that the vaccine is part of a plan to kill you, sorry, that to me is madness.”
