Amid so many canceled or postponed releases due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Brian May gives hope for a possible collaboration with his friend Tony Iommi , who has already shared several riffs with May, who encouraged him to use them in songs.

In an interview with Guitar World , May stated, “I think there’s a chance. We talk more than anything, but we talk a lot. [Iommi] is really my dearest friend in the industry and has been for many years now.”

Regarding Iommi's importance to the genre, May didn't mince words. “And of course he's the father of heavy metal. He did it. He made it happen. And it's from his fingers and his mind. That ex-welder, he made it happen. So, you know, he'll always wear that medal, I think. He founded this thing, heavy metal, in my opinion. I mean, I think most people would agree.”

“I could write books about Tony because he’s the most… I don’t even know how to put it into words,” Brian said of his friend. “You know, he’s a luminous human being, with a wonderful, gentle nature and an incredible, complex sense of humor.”
