Guitarist Brian May has released a statement on his official website cancelling the tour he was scheduled to begin with vocalist Kerry Ellis in December due to illness. See his statement below:
"This is a decision I agonized over making, but in the end, it became unavoidable.".
I managed to finish Queen's recent tour with Adam Lambert in Asia, but I'm battling a persistent illness that is destroying my energy and willpower.
I'm at a point where I don't feel confident playing the scheduled shows with the expected quality.
I was strongly advised to rest and heal, and not to go out and risk having a breakdown at work, which would be a real tragedy.
I am convinced that it is much better to cancel the dates now, reimburse the fans for their tickets, and have time to plan new dates.”
In another post on the official website, May said she was switching off social media and communication to rest and recuperate in a remote location: “Apologies to anyone involved in things I will have to miss. I have to go and prioritize things. Sometimes we don’t have a choice.”
