Last Tuesday, February 24th, Brian Johnson, vocalist of AC/DC, experienced an unusual moment during the first of the band's three shows at Morumbi Stadiumin São Paulo.
The British musician went viral on social media after picking up a Corinthians thrown onto the stage during the performance of the show's final song, "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)". The stadium belongs to São Paulo Futebol Clube, a rival of the club. The scene happened quickly, but it sent a large part of the 72,000-strong audience into a frenzy [via CNN Brasil].
Historically, the club from the eastern zone of São Paulo has always been present at major events. In 2024, M. Shadows, vocalist of Avenged Sevenfold, received a flag of the team during Rock in Rio. The singer was unaware of the rivalry with Flamengo and asked the audience "if he could raise it." Upon doing so, Shadows received a mixture of boos and applause [via Rolling Stone Brasil].
AC/DC showed they still have a lot of fuel left in the tank during their show in São Paulo
In a review published by Wikimetal, the text says: "With more than five decades on the road, the Australian group maintains a straightforward approach with catchy riffs, explosive choruses, and a performance without excesses, where the highlight is the strength of the repertoire."
“The structure prioritizes the music, highlighting the stacked amplifiers and the constant presence of Angus Young, who, despite his advanced age of 70, remained the visual and sonic driving force of the show, his worn guitar showcasing years of experience. Even after decades of repeating the school uniform and lengthy solos, the guitarist demonstrates stamina and technical precision. Vocalist Brian Johnson, in turn, delivered a solid performance, within his current natural limitations. Experience compensated for any vocal strain, as he maintained his charisma in anthems like 'Back in Black', 'You Shook Me All Night Long', and 'Highway to Hell'.”
