The bassist founded Trivium alongside drummer Travis Smith.

Brent Young , former bassist and co-founder of Trivium , died last Friday, the 25th. The news was confirmed by vocalist and guitarist Matt Heafy on social media.

The bassist founded the band with drummer Travis Smith in 1999, and soon after Heafy joined them, releasing their debut EP. In Heafy's post, Smith commented: “I will forever remember September 25th at 6:48 p.m. That was when I received the saddest and most heartbreaking phone call of my life. My brother and best friend of the last 27 years passed away and is no longer with me.”

“Brent, you will always be missed and loved. I cherish every memory we have together. We shared so many good times and monumental moments in our lives together and I feel we still had so many more ahead of us. You will forever be with me and so many others. Heaven received a beautiful person yesterday and you will be missed forever. I love you. Rest in peace.”
