Brent Hind , former guitarist of Mastodon , has once again attacked his former bandmates through a comment on social media.

Last week, a fan account on Instagram called Hard Rock Files shared a video clip of the title track from the 2012 album, “Crack the Skye,” making special mention of Brent Hinds' guitar solo. The account also posted a comment saying “Irreplaceable,” tagging Hinds' account.

Next, Brent Hind began to harshly criticize his former bandmates, saying:

“My guitar sounds great. But Troy and Prawn [apparently a nickname for Brann Dailor ] sound absolutely awful… They’re completely out of tune… Embarrassing, and they kicked me out of the band for embarrassing them for being who I am… But as for who they are? They’re two people who can’t sing… Together live or anywhere else in the world… Everything they try to sing in the studio is manipulated by autotune because they’re incapable of singing in tune…”

Furthermore, Brent added: “Fuck those guys… Only I know who they really are… they are their own biggest fans… I’ve never seen anyone in my life look in the mirror more than Troy Sanders. He thinks he’s a gift from God for something. I’ve never met three people so full of themselves. It’s disgusting.”

Mastodon announced the departure of guitarist Brent Hinds from the quartet on March 7, 2025

Brent Hind uses social media to attack his former band.

On June 25th of this year, Brent criticized his former bandmates, calling them "shit" and "horrible humans." The guitarist made a comment on a post on the official Mastodon Instagram account .

The band posted the cover of their 2014 album Once More 'Round The Sun to celebrate the LP's 11th anniversary, when a fan commented: "'Halloween' is definitely my number 1 track on this record. I'll definitely miss B. Hinds."

Shortly after, Brent himself responded to the comment on Mastodon's original post via his official Instagram account, writing: "I want to miss being in a bad band with horrible people."

Brent Hinds leaving Mastodon

Brent Hinds has served as guitarist and vocalist for Mastodon since its formation in 2000, alongside bassist and vocalist Troy Sanders , drummer Brann Dailor , and guitarist Bill Kelliher . The lineup remained the same for 25 years, recording eight studio albums, beginning with Remission and continuing with the band's most recent, 2021's Hushed and Grim

Kelliher spoke to Guitar World in March about Hinds' departure: “It was a fun and crazy journey, for sure. We accomplished a lot of things I never imagined, not in a million years. We had Grammys, tours with our heroes like Iron Maiden , Metallica , Motorhead and Tool . I appreciate all of that. Like in a marriage, sometimes people drift apart and become interested in other things,” he explained. “We wish Brent all the best in pursuing his dreams,” Kelliher added.
