Brazilian rock and metal bands you need to listen to: Forkill, Semblant, Persevera

Check out our new selection of Brazilian bands for you to discover!

While some people believe that rock is dead or that Brazilian music is limited to the most popular styles, national rock and heavy metal bands constantly prove otherwise, despite all the challenges and, unfortunately, lack of support from the local audience.

As part of Wikimetal to build bridges and promote the national scene to the rock and metal community, we bring you another National Pride with bands you need to listen to: Forkill, Semblant , and Persevera .

Appearance

The band Semblant has released the music video for "Purified," from their upcoming album Vermilion Eclipse , scheduled for release on April 15th. The group from Curitiba has been gaining significant ground in the national and international metal scene, even having tour dates scheduled in Europe before the pandemic.

Speaking about the new release, vocalist Sergio Mazul commented: “This album is quite emotional. During the production process, we lost family members, one of us is celebrating the news that our first child is on the way, and we helped each other keep our minds healthy and strong during this insane time. All of this is reflected in the new album.”

Semblant, besides Sergio, is made up of Mizuho Lin (vocals), Juliano Ribeiro (guitar), Welyntom “Thor” Sikora (drums ), J. Augusto (keyboards) and Johann Piper (bass).

Forkill

Straight from Rio de Janeiro, Forkill arrives loaded with thrash metal, ready to release their third studio album, Sick Society . The full album is expected in March, and the group recently released the single "Merchants of Faith" to better showcase their sound.

The song “Merchants of Faith” deals with the crueler side of religion, which is its use as a tool for manipulation and personal enrichment. According to guitarist Ronnie Giehl, the band wanted to “explore some different things” on this album. “Like inserting references to Brazilian bands in the song 'Violence Ritual', and we also filled the cover art with references, some of them linked to 'Merchants of Faith' itself,” he says.

Alongside Ronnie, Forkill consists of Igor Rodrigues (guitar and vocals), Gustavo Nascimento (bass), and Rodrigo Tártaro (drums).

Persevere

Hailing from Sumaré, Persevera is preparing to release their first studio album and has already released nine of their songs. Unlike what usually happens in the metal scene, the group will release their songs individually, instead of delivering a full album to the fan all at once.

With a heavy sound, Persevera is formed by Danilo Bredda (guitar), Paulo Carrara (vocals), Thadeu Castro (bass) and Claudio Lima (drums). Check out the heaviness of Persevera with “The White Rider” below.
