Brazilian rock and metal bands you need to listen to: Midorii Kido, 100 Dogmas, Marcus Mausan

Check out our new selection of Brazilian bands for you to discover!

While some people believe that rock is dead or that Brazilian music is limited to the most popular styles, national rock and heavy metal bands constantly prove otherwise, despite all the challenges and, unfortunately, lack of support from the local audience.

As part of Wikimetal to build bridges and promote the national scene to the rock and metal community, we bring you another National Pride with bands you need to listen to: Midorii Kido, 100 Dogmas, Marcus Mausan.

Midorii Kido

A drag queen for six years, Midorii Kido, from Bahia, navigates through rock and heavy metal, and “Sou O Que Sou” (I Am What I Am) is sure to surprise. Speaking about self-acceptance, Kido delivers a heavy sound capable of attracting all types of headbangers.

“Sou O Que Sou” was released in 2020 and the following year it got a music video, which you can watch and headbang to below.

100 Dogmas

With a curious name, 100 Dogmas talks about mundane subjects, but with a Brazilian touch – by addressing mysticism – and heavy metal – with a strong and creative groove.

The band's discography includes their debut EP, A Caixa de Pandora (2018), and its successor, aMALdiçoado Seja (2019). In 2020, they released the single "Sic Mundus Creatus Est," and in 2021, another single, "Corpo Fechado," produced by Adair Daufembach.

Marcus Mausan

If you still have doubts about the scope of heavy metal, you'll be surprised by Marcus Mausan . The musician spent his entire academic life as an opera tenor and now transfers all that talent to heavy metal.

His serene voice navigates between traditional heavy metal, with all its weight, and lyrical metal, and together they transform into something unique and captivating. Below, you can check out his work with the band The Other Side on the song "Force of Wisdom".
