While some people believe that rock is dead or that Brazilian music is limited to the most popular styles, national rock and heavy metal bands constantly prove otherwise, despite all the challenges and, unfortunately, lack of support from the local audience.

As part of Wikimetal to build bridges and promote the national scene to the rock and metal community, we bring you another National Pride with bands you need to listen to: Platinus, Silver Lynx, Drowned , and Mistreated.

Platinum

Hailing from Porto Alegre, Platinus navigates between heavy metal and thrash metal, not only in their sound but also thematically.

With their latest single “Sangria,” for example, the group talks about the wars that devastate communities. According to them, “'Sangria' brings an aggressive but peaceful message, one of mutual respect and an end to the old and familiar greed.”

The song will be part of the band's new album, Tensão, which will have an intense theme and serve as a concept album for the group. Sangria is formed by Willian Lovato, Diogo Fox , and Lucca Bittencourt .

Silver Lynx

Silver Lynx is a heavy metal and hard rock band from Paraíba, formed in 2019 by Lucas Belmont (vocals), Thyago Davidson (drums), Tony Bernardo (guitar) and Gabriel Cardozo (bass), part of our discoveries on Groover .

Influenced by NWOBHM and 80s hard rock from bands like Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe , the group released their first EP in December, which should soon pave the way for their debut album. On it, the group expands their sound across six strong tracks, giving a great taste of what's to come.

Drowned

For loyal Wikimetal readers, the band Drowned is no stranger. In November, we interviewed them about their single “Hail, Captain Genocide!” , which resulted in a really cool chat. Now, we're recommending them again, as they've since released the singles “Salute Stupidity” and, most recently, “The Worst of Us”.

The group, which uses its voice extensively to protest and demonstrate, believes that much of the heavy metal style calls for such expression. “We don’t think the music itself has a duty to talk about politics. But we believe that metal is a style that has been connected, since its inception, to rising up against standards, against the status quo, and above all, it is dissatisfied with what is wrong. That is the language of authentic metal. Rock is a style of protest, not a style that worships anything,” they argued.

Mistreated

Founded in 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, the band Mistreaded Brand New Rust last December , showcasing a blend of classic heavy metal and hard rock.

Featuring eight original tracks, the album presents a heavy sound while also incorporating elements of classic metal. In this work, the group demonstrates an unbeatable force, created only after several rehearsals.

Mistreaded consists of Emanuel Murialdo (guitar), Henrique Radünz (vocals), Rodrigo Reinhardt (drums), Davi Isac (bass), and Diego Corral (guitar).
