Brazilian rock and metal bands you need to listen to: No One Spoke, Alefla, Heading Gates, Desdominus

From hard rock to metal, Orgulho Nacional's new curation features top-tier bands.

While some people believe that rock is dead or that Brazilian music is limited to the most popular styles, national rock and heavy metal bands constantly prove otherwise, despite all the challenges and, unfortunately, lack of support from the local audience.

As part of Wikimetal to build bridges and promote the national scene to the rock and metal community, we bring you another National Pride with bands you need to listen to: No One Spoke , Alefla , Heading Gates , and Desdominus.

No One Spoke

The band No One Spoke surprised everyone when they released a bombastic version of "Kashmir," which appears on their recently released album, Stairway to Brazil… The Brazilian Tribute to Led Zeppelin . The album features 15 different bands, all with female vocals, performing reinterpretations of songs by the iconic English band.

No One Spoke had already released their first studio album this year, titled Nine Mirrors – which you can listen to below. Hailing from the south of the country, the band combines elements of metal with more classical instruments. The mix showcases the group's flexibility and ability to create something completely new.

The group consists of Carla Domingues (vocals), Gabriel Porto (drums), Iva Giracca (violin), André Medeiros (guitar), Thiago Gonçalves (keyboards), and Artur Cipriani (bass).

Alefla

Formed in 2005 in the interior of São Paulo, the group Alefla stands out for its daring combination of male and female vocals, something that is quite common in international heavy metal.

The band's latest work is the album Unbreakable , which marks their second release. The album, containing 10 tracks, was produced by Tito Falaschi and can be heard below.

Alefla is made up of Fla Moorey (vocals), Alexandre Nascimento (guitar and vocals), Erivelto Santos (guitar), Fillipe Ferreira (bass) and Paulo Ferreira (drums).

Heading Gates

Drawing inspiration from bands of the 70s and 80s, Heading Gates , according to the band itself, originated from notes by vocalist Z_Edu that contained themes inspired by everyday life. This series of notes transformed into the lyrics we can hear now.

Inspired by bands like King Crimson and Black Sabbath , the group was formed with André Vicentin on guitar, Julio Pires on bass, and Douglas Ramos on drums. Heading Gates' lyrics explore themes of religion and human behavior, incorporating mystical and timeless elements, and are intentionally designed to prompt reflection.

Listen below to the band's latest single, "The Gates of the Haunted House".

Desdominus

Desdominus has a lot of history to tell! Formed in 1993 in Americana, in the interior of São Paulo, by drummer Ney Paulino , the only remaining member of the original lineup, the band has released two demos and three albums .

The fourth album – which you can listen to below – was released in 2021 with a new lineup featuring three new musicians: Adriano Justino on bass, Rodrigo Pereira on guitar, and Daniel Curtolo on guitar and vocals.
