There's never a shortage of good music here at the Wikimetal , and we love sharing our discoveries with our readers. That's why we're continuing our series on Brazilian bands you need to know!
Today we're featuring three new bands, so join us on this journey and stay up-to-date on the latest rock and metal news!
1) The São Paulo-based band Asfixia Social recently released the single "Censura Não 2021" (No Censorship 2021), a direct reference to the current misgovernment in Brazil.
The song is a re-recording of the original 2011 version. “When we denounced the political and cultural regression in Brazil, it became clear that 'No Censorship' had become even more relevant. The evolution of the band's sound has also become more intense and heavier in these 10 years, and this was fundamental for revisiting the song.”.
Asfixia Social consists of Kaneda Mukhtar (vocals, trumpet and trombone), Rafael Santos (guitar and vocals), Leonardo Oliveira (bass and vocals), Marcelo Sampaio (guitar and vocals) and Rodrigo Silva (drums).
2) The band Sacrificed recently released the EP Beyond the Gates , which features six original tracks addressing current issues such as "feminism against prejudice and violence against women; the irresponsibility of authorities and its consequences in combating the coronavirus pandemic; and current psychological illnesses."
The EP came with a music video for the single “Say My Name” which you can watch by clicking here . Sacrificed consists of Kell Reis (vocals), Diego Oliveira (guitar and vocals), Sérgio Barbieri (guitar), Gabriel Fernando (bass) and Tiago Vitek (drums).
3) Straight from Brasília, Beholder's Cult delivers powerful doom metal on their debut studio album. Featuring nine tracks, Our Darkest Home presents, according to the band, "the almost dreamlike idea of a journey between the beginning of life and death, or between significant moments in a life, represented by a journey under the sun that becomes progressively unbearable as it progresses, with night as both the starting and ending point."
Beholder's Cult consists of Marcella Dourado (vocals), Zé Misanthropic (vocals), Lucas Guimarães (guitar), and Victor Hormidas (guitar).
