Brazilian bands you need to know: Double Cross, Buzzard, and Matakabra.

Today, Wikimetal presents three names in Brazilian music that you need to know.

Looking for new bands to listen to during this delicate time we're living through? In the fourth part of the series, Wikimetal continues to help you on this mission.

Here, we'll introduce you to three Brazilian bands that, amidst the pandemic, are delivering super interesting material that you can't miss!

1) Hailing straight from Belo Horizonte, Double Cross presents their first music video ever, “Obey Thy Master”. The power trio consists of Alex Bernarz on vocals and guitar, Thiago Brotão on bass, and Ghuzz on drums.

Produced by Goblin Filmes, the music video marks the audiovisual debut of the band, which released its self-titled debut EP in 2020. The band's work is inspired by the old-school of heavy metal. Check it out below!

2) Buzzard hails from Brusque, in Santa Catarina, and shows that Brazil is diverse enough to encompass all subgenres of rock and metal. Also debuting in the audiovisual world, Buzzard released the music video for "Mantis," a production by PULSO, also from the south of the country. The video features almost surreal scenes in a journey that goes from psychedelic rock to doom, with a mesmerizing aura.

The duo consists of André Leoni on bass and vocals and Suyanne Gabrielle on drums and also on vocals. Their debut EP, Eye of the Sun , which was made possible with the support of the Aldir Blanc Law (Law 14.017/20), arrives this Friday, the 9th.

3) A highlight of the current Recife scene, Matakabra has already performed at several rock and metal festivals, including Abril Pro Rock, a performance that resulted in a recently released DVD. Ao Vivo no Abril Pro Rock features songs from the group's two EPs, Prole (2016) and Marginal (2017).

Matakabra consists of Rodrigo Costa on vocals, Fernando Marques on guitar, Rafael Coutinho on bass, and Theo Espindola on drums. Listen to the full DVD below.
