Is 2021 one of your goals to be listening to new bands? After the first list in the series , Wikimetal continues to help you on this mission. In the second list, we've selected three Brazilian bands that you need to know.
From death metal to hard rock, this editorial team presents bands that deserve recognition in the national scene. Check out the list below.
1) The band AnkerkeriA combines modern death metal with neo-classical elements, incorporating touches of other metal subgenres, on their debut album, Matriarch , released in February of this year.
The band, formed by Joice Lopes (vocalist and composer), Felipe Facó (guitarist and composer), Alessanda Castro (bassist), Marcelo Lima (guitarist), Vicente Ferreira (drummer and composer), and Iuri Corvalan (audiovisual producer), brings a mix of horror and beauty, incorporating literary and mythological references to further enrich the density of their sound.
2) The band Loss Gerais recently released their first EP, Let's Go . "Our sound is reminiscent of the classics, with influences from classic rock, stoner, metal, and hard rock, but all seasoned with a lot of groove and modern references," described Marcelo Loss (vocalist and bassist, formerly of Concreto ).
The band, formed by Loss, Edu Megale (guitar, The Mist and DAM ) and Teddy Bronsk (drums, ex- Witchhammer and Concreto) is currently in the process of composing their first album, planned for release later this year. "We want to release music videos for all the tracks on the EP, but we're working on a full album, which should include the four songs from the EP plus six new ones," said Loss.
3) LOCKFIST 669 from São José dos Campos, in the interior of São Paulo, Macabre Amusement Park in January 2021 .
The band, formed in 2005, has already played alongside big names in metal such as Napalm Death and Krisiun due to the success of their first album, Inside . The current lineup consists of Luiz Artur (vocals), Renato Machado (guitar), Rafael Leal (bass), and Ascânio Andrade (drums), but the band's new project, due to the pandemic, has been scaled down, featuring only Artur, Machado, and producer Friggi Madbeats .
