Mike Shinoda spoke about Brad Delson 's absence from Linkin Park 's live shows . During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show ( via Igor Miranda band 's leader mentioned the fact that Brad continues to be involved with studio work and is listed as an official member, but does not perform live. Alex Feder has filled his place.
“In case anyone doesn’t understand the dynamic, Brad is our guitarist — he’s in the band — but he realized that in terms of… it’s kind of a mental health issue. He doesn’t like touring and the live show lifestyle. So, he’s our guitarist, but he’s not playing live.”
Colin Brittain was only going to participate in the creative process of From Zero.

“Colin Brittain would only be part of the process [ From Zero , Linkin Park’s new album] as a songwriter and co-producer. I love working with Colin. I met him in sessions and brought him in to help. But we saw that we would need someone to play drums and, since I knew that was his main instrument, I offered it to him. This would take him away from his production career.”

Shinoda also says that it was Brad who chose Alex Feder to replace him. But since he didn't know him yet, there was a possibility that Colin would be the guitarist in the performances and not the drummer.
“Brad chose Alex to play his parts live and they get along really well. But at the time, we didn’t know Alex, so we asked Colin: ‘Brad needs someone to play guitar and we need a drummer. You do both equally well. What would you like to do?’ It was like a kid in a candy store. I think he said: ‘I can’t believe what you’re asking me now.’ He was so excited.”
