Brad Arnold , lead singer of 3 Doors Down , revealed on Wednesday afternoon, the 7th, that he is battling clear cell renal carcinoma, or ccRCC, a type of kidney cancer.

The vocalist, and only remaining member of the band's original lineup, revealed the news in an emotional social media post [transcription via Blabbermouth ]: “I hope you’re all having a great day today. I have some not-so-good news for you. So, I’ve been sick for a few weeks and then went to the hospital, had a check-up, and was diagnosed with clear cell renal carcinoma that has metastasized to my lung. And it’s stage four, and that’s not good at all.”

“But you know what? We serve a powerful God, and He can overcome anything. So, I’m not afraid. Honestly, I’m not afraid of any of this. But this will force us to cancel our tour this summer. And we apologize for that. I would love for you to lift me up in prayer whenever you can. I think maybe it’s time for me to listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit [a song by 3 Doors Down released in 2008]. Thank you so much, everyone. God loves you. We love you. See you later.”

Following Arnold's diagnosis, 3 Doors Down cancelled all previously announced tour dates, including headlining shows, festivals, and opening for Creed .
