Despite U2 to Irish rock, the group has always divided opinions among heavy music fans. In a recent interview, Bono Vox proved that it's not just the public that has its own issues with U2; he himself doesn't consider himself a big fan of certain things about his own band.

In a recent interview on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter , the lead singer admitted that he sometimes blushes with embarrassment when he hears some U2 songs on the radio, but that it's not always a bad thing.

“There have been times when I’m in the car listening to the radio and when one of our songs starts playing I blush,” he says. “I feel embarrassed. I think U2 pushes the boundaries of awkwardness a lot. And maybe that’s the place to be as an artist; right on the edge of your pain level from the awkwardness and your level of awkwardness.”

Bono also said he had trouble liking his voice early in his career because he thought it sounded "forced" and "not masculine enough," but hearing Joey Ramone reassured him. "I realized I didn't need to be that kind of rock 'n' roll singer," he said.

Closing out the list, The Edge , who was also present at the interview, recalled that the name U2 wasn't necessarily a unanimous choice either, but the other option, The Hype , sounded very "unoriginal".

“Of all the options we had, it wasn’t that ‘U2’ jumped out at us as the name we were really looking for, but it was the name we hated the least. It’s what we chose, but we didn’t love it right away,” he reveals.
