Bono , the lead singer of U2 Jimmy Kimmel 's American talk show , Bono said: "Nobody needs a new U2 album unless it's extraordinary."
During the conversation, Kimmel asked if U2 was working on anything new. Bono stated that he was in the studio with the band [transcription via Louder ]: “I think sometimes you have to deal with the past to get to the present, in order to create the sound of the future, which is what we want to do. It’s the sound of four men who feel their lives depend on it.”
He added: “Nobody needs a new U2 album unless it’s extraordinary. And I’m feeling very confident about that.”
Bono also stated that the album will have “songs for the kitchen, songs for the racetrack, for the garage… for every part of your life, songs to make peace with, songs to end things with. U2 makes a unique sound when we play together. The sound of a room is what we're aiming for.”
The Irish vocalist was on the show promoting his new documentary Bono: Stories of Surrender , which is available on Apple TV+.
