A reunion between Bon Jovi and their former guitarist Richie Sambora may be closer than we thought.

Having left the band in 2013, Sambora recently gave an interview to Metro.co.uk where he indicated that he might be part of the group's set at Glastonbury 2023, which takes place in June. This will be Bon Jovi's first time performing at the festival.

"It's a possibility. We've been talking about it a bit," the guitarist commented with "a cheeky smile," according to the report.

Unlike his bandmates, Richie Sambora has already performed at Glastonbury. He played with Dolly Parton in 2014 and heaped praise on the singer during the interview: “It was my first time at Glastonbury, but playing with her was fantastic. She’s a sweetheart and very good. She’s a consummate professional and she’s still here. What a legacy!”

Riche Sambora and the departure of Bon Jovi

Officially, Richie Sambora announced he was leaving Bon Jovi to spend more time with his family and his daughter Ava , who was a teenager at the time. In a 2020 interview, he confirmed that he needed to "work hard" on his personal life and that "that was a time of psychological maintenance for the family."

In 2013, many newspapers and tabloids also speculated that the guitarist's departure was due to his substance abuse problem. The separation from the musician and friend of thirty years saddened Jon Bon Jovi , who commented to Rock Antenne , also in 2020: "There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish Richie had the life he deserved and was still in the band."

Richie Sambora was replaced upon his departure by Phil X , who spoke to Wikimetal about the experience in 2019. "I didn't have time to be scared. I was just thrown into the fire," he commented.

In 2018, Richie Sambora and Bon Jovi reunited for the first time , performing together at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.
